Son of Mighty Muffins:
Mini Muffins:
After several years of delivering a terrific range of very successful wholemeal
muffins, we were dragged, kicking and screaming, into the "big muffin"
market. At the time, I felt the market was saturated with all sorts of
big white flour muffins, most of which varied between fairly tasteless and
almost inedible. Quite frankly, I didn't want Bob & Pete's to be associated
with what seemed to me to be an inferior product. However, one of my customers
kept insisting that we should. He regularly bought and loved our wholemeal
muffins and said his customers did too but he was adamant that if we could
produce a really tasty BIG muffin, we would sell 10 times as many.
So, Adele Jurgens, our R&D wizard, set to work to produce "the
best muffin in the world" and within a few weeks had come up with
nine flavours that everyone in our office fell in love with immediately.
Somewhat tentatively, I typed up a list of the flavours on a piece of
A4 paper, chose a bold font and centred them and then, with a felt tip
pen, drew a very rough muffin shape around them. We ran off copies at
Snap and sent them out to all our customers with their next order. The
reaction was phenomenal. Within ten days we were producing and delivering
a hundred dozen "Mighty Muffins" a day, a figure that has just
kept growing. This created a big boost in public awareness of BOB &
PETE's, as it was the first time we actually had our name on a product,
well on the patty pans at least. The Son of Mighty and the Mini Mighty
were obvious follow ons - the "Son of" being perfect for the
smaller or more weight conscious eaters and the "Mini's" as
function finger dessert, or just for the "coffee break".
